My daughter: the podcaster
My daughter had to write and record a podcast episode for a school assignment. She chose to write about farming in Minnesota.
When she played it back for us, I was impressed with the depth of her research (plagues of grasshoppers! Who knew?) and even her delivery. She spoke clearly and could be understood.
I was trying not to listen to it as a voiceover talent. I could hear where I could coach her on adjusting her delivery to sound less like she was reading. I could have even let her use my recording equipment to achieve a smoother sound; she recorded on a school-issued iPad.
But…I don’t want to be that parent. She’ll be 12 next week and what she turned in was fantastic, and met the scope of the assignment. I’m sure her teacher is not looking for broadcast quality delivery from a class of 6th graders….
