New School Year

Sent the kids off today to senior year and 6th grade, the first year of middle school. The middle schooler is not the one driving.

The beginning of the school year is always bittersweet. I now have more time for my own work, and my recording sessions won’t be interrupted by the piano or phone calls with friends.

I sense it will be a good year. They’re both kind and thoughtful and have great friends. Over the year their relationships may change and shift: welcoming new friends and new experiences. They’ll be challenged in countless ways, and those challenges will prepare them for adulthood.
